With a population of more than 6 million, Bangkok is a treasure trove. Although the city maybe crowded and the pollution may tend to get to you, Bangkok is a city you must not miss.

It can be extremely hot during the summer and the area has a tendency to flood during the rainy season. The ideal time to visit is from November to January.

I, on the other hand, would visit Bangkok anytime. For me, the locals make  Bangkok a fun town. It seems that the smiles never stop. Virtually everyone there will go out of their way for you.

Bangkok has a rich history. But, guess what? ... This isn't a history site.

We're here to find out about the adult action. On that note, Bangkok can be divided into three sections: Bars, Massage and Sex Shows

Bars

On your first visit to Bangkok, you will be a amazed by the number of bars. It seems like they are on every corner. Unfortunately, appearances are not everything. Bangkok is a very large city and the sex trade is just a small part .

Now, If you have taken our  advice and are staying in one of the hotels recommended by ATG, you will be at the heart of the adult action.

There are four main areas to have some amusement. The legendary Patpong (known as the red-light district), unbelievable Nana Plaza  and the laid back Soi Cowboy. And, do not forget Thermae and Clinton Plaza.

Patpong:
The legendary red-light district Patpong  became infamous as the place for the horny GI to get laid during the Vietnam war. Although sex was out in the open long before the GI made it to town, GIs excelled in the trade, giving Bangkok it's reputation as a Mecca for sex.

Location:
Situated between Suriwong and Silom roads, Patpong is only a short taxi ride from any of the other main adult locations. Transportation is readily available.  There seemed to be a taxi following me just about everywhere , so you will be able to find one easy.

Any tuk-tuk driver/ taxi driver can take you here without any problem.

Description:
The streets surrounding  Patpong are just your run-of-the-mill alleys and avenues during the day. During the evening hours they become one of the wildest street markets imaginable. Just about everything is for sale--baskets, gold, silver and leather goods, as well as common-place fake Rolex watches. Streets are dimly-lit and bustling with people. You will feel safe late at night, so long as you do not wander off down some dark, unpopulated street.

Bars line the streets. There seems to be even more open-air bars every time I go. Even though the bars close at 2 am, people are on the streets 24-hours a day.

The action begins about 7 pm, but you can pick-up most any girl at an open-air bar during daylight hours. Compared with other areas in Bangkok, Patpong seems to have the most beautiful of women.

There are many types of bars--some cater to the traveler who just wants to relax and watch the girls dance and have a few beers. Other bars cater more to the real sex industry and promote the women.  These establishments make it down-right easy to take a girl for a short or for long time.

There are the open-air bars; However, these are not the same as those in Pattaya. The open-air bars in Patpong are more the drink-and-talk type bars. Most of these open earlier than the go-go bars. The girls in the open-air bars are not as good looking as the night girls, but are fun if you are looking for a lunch companion. Kings Corner has some incredible Ladyboys, they will blow you away with their beauty. All are extremely happy  to see you come through their doors, so don't be afraid to take a look see ,you just might surprise your self..

The girls in Patpong can and do charge more money than those in the other areas. I suppose this is the reason that the girls here are incredibly beautiful. It is amazing how many of these girls could be models or at least "porno stars."  I will not go into detail about their services or charges (see Bars), except to say that, while they are a little bit pricey, you get what you pay for. I did.

Nana Plaza

Nana Plaza is a favorite of mine and an incredible place. The walls surrounding Nana Plaza were once old hotels and shops that, over time, succumbed to the sex trade. The plaza, as with Patpong, was also a watering hole for the GI. Now, Nana has been turned in to a land of plenty. It is without a doubt the best and most compact location for meeting girls.

Location:
Nana is located off Sukhumvit Road on Soi 4 (Street). It's only a 1/2-block off of Sukhumvit (which is one of the main highways in Bangkok). When you first approach the Nana Plaza area on Soi 4, you may not even notice it--during the day, that is.

Description:
There are shops and street vendors everywhere and the area has a few open-air bars. Nanna Hotel has a great open-air bar that is good for meeting with friends before a night out on the town. There is a  motorbike stand on the corner of Sukhumvit and Soi 4, (next to the gas station) if you care to and dare to get on one of those things.

If you prefer sounder modes of transportation, there are taxies and tuk-tuks that run non-stop day and night. You will not have any problem flagging one down. Remember: it best to barter, or tell them to use the meter.Asking for the meter is best.

Soi 4 is made up of shops and hotels, mostly the later. Street vendors hock their wares all around the intersection of Sukhumvit and Soi 4 (remember to barter and you may find a nice gift for your friends back home). There is a good pharmacist on the NE and SE corner at this same intersection, in case you need to restock on personal items.

As the day turns to night, a great place to sit and have a beer is the Nana Hotel open-air bar called Golden Bar. Much of Nana Plaza opens at 7 PM, but a few bars are already going strong by 4 PM. Open air bars that is.

A large Sawatdii Nana Plaza sign hangs above the entrance. As you make your way in, you will see a Buddha where the working girls leave drinks, flowers and incense for the nights' work ahead. The complex is shaped like a square. The South end opens to the entrance. The complex stands three-stories tall with a balcony surrounding the plaza on each floor.

The center is filled with bars, but it is very easy to see the entire plaza. The place is lit up like a neon factory on steroids. Guys and girls relentlessly urge you to enter each bar. Most of the bars leave the door open or have only a black piece of cloth hanging over the entrance.

Bars surround the inside walls on the first, second and third floors. On my last visit, there were quite a few bars that  were closed on the second and third floors--but the ones that are open are a must see if you want a bit of an adventure. It is best to walk around the whole plaza and take a look inside each bar before you settle into one (SEE BARS). The girls here vary in attractiveness, but you will have no problem finding a beautiful one. It is always best to get to know her before you jump her into the sack. Most of the girls are happy to let you pay their bar fine as soon as you sit down--that way they do not need to dance ("work") the rest of the night.

As with most girls, the pretty ones may only want you for a short time. This way, they make more money during the evening. Then around 1 to 2 am, they start to look for a long-timer.

The girls here have raised their prices (if you want to call it that) in the last few years, but are still a better deal than Patpong.

You will find Nana Plaza to be a great place if you are into bar hopping. You can just go a few steps and--there you are--another lovely lady.  Bar fines can vary from bar to bar, but most here are between 250 and 500 baht. The girls themselves often set their own price and it is best to get this straight before you depart.

I have always seen these girls as working girls and, if I have a good time, I will always overpay.  It gives me a good name, even if my title is "Butterfly." The going rate is about 1000 baht for a short-time and 1500+ for a long-time. Most of the girls enjoy your affection in the bar, showing the other girls they have their date for the night. So do not be afraid to get close and have a little fun.

Another exciting place to have a few beers is Casanovas on the 2nd floor in the NW corner. Casanovas is the place to visit if you are into ladyboys. Here you will find some of the most beautiful in Bangkok . Most likely, they will be sitting out in front of the door, each one vying for your attention as you approach. Do not miss this bar--even if you are not into ladyboys, you will be astonished.

Soi Cowboy

This is a great location if you want to have a diversion from Nana Plaza. The tourists never seem to make it to this part of town and that's a good thing. I'm not sure why more don't--it's really not far from the other bars. Just a short walk or a 5 minute cab ride from Nana Plaza.

Not known as well as  Patpong and Nana, Soi Cowboy has lost out. But during the last year or so things have picked up. Now  So Cowboy is really hopping. Just the last trip the talk is Soi cowboy  will be the next Nana. There is plenty of room for expansion and that's a good thing in Bangkok. My guess is that the bars and the new girls working in the area now are the source of the rebound. Some of the bars are offering beer specials, which are helping to bring in some new faces.

Location:
A short ride from Nana up Sukhumvit Road between Soi 23 and Soi Asoke you will find Soi Cowboy. You will not be disappointed, as these girls are less likely to want to go short-time. They seemed to be sweet and interested in getting to know you.

Description:
This is a great place to be during the early evening , as many of the bars are open early and you can have your pick of the girls. There are some great places to eat and you will not have any trouble finding one of the honeys to have dinner with. The drink specials and the local hotties make this an excellent get-away from the tourist areas in Patpong . Girls are for ever more in the streets  with an invitation  into one of the many bars. Many of the bars have total nude dancing and they welcome your patronage. basically this area is one long Soi , with bars and Go Go bars on you right and left. Most of the Go Go  bars are a welcome relief from the heat and are just plane nice to relax in. A girl on each hip ,just wanting you to give them you attention. The buildings all connect and are three stories tall with apartments and private homes above the bars. The occasional motorbike takes this street but no cars.

Thermae

Thermae is one of the legendary bars you hear people talk about. It was and is a late-night bar, open after most of the bars are forced to close at 2 am.

Sadly, the old Thermae was torn down to make room for a new building. Which has never materialized and now  is an open-air market just down from the new Thermae. Open 'till around 6 am it is truly a late night bar. The best time to get here is between 2 and 4 am. At that time, everyone is still in party mode. By 6 am, you are on your own. So, so many girls, this is a must see , this place is full of women. They stand 4 deep along the walls and around the center bar. The place can fill up fast ,so if you are early take a table in the back or along the bar. You will be amazed at the sheer number of lovely girls that come through the doors. The music is supplied by an old juck box ,that takes 10 bt. coins. The lighting is great making it easy to see across the room.                

Location:<
Thermae is located between Soi 13 and Soi 15. It is in the basement of the Ruam Chitt. The new Thermae is much bigger and cleaner. The old one was good, but I do like the fresher  feel of this one. It is a good idea to check out the girls' as they arrive outside at the Ruam Chitt Hotel. It's a good vantage point and, if you wish, you can easily get their attention. "Fuck you for free" was the cries as I entered my last trip. Three of the hottest honeys you can imagine . Just out for some fun. (Note there is no bar fine here.)

Description:
The girls that you will find may be off work from a day job and trying to make a little money on the side, or they are from one of the go-go bars in the area. They too seem to like the new place better. A few of the girls say they were happy to see the old Thermae go. One of the girls I met, "Nue," said she met better men at the new Thermae.

I have even seen some of the girls from Patpong show up, after the bars there close. The girls are at this point freelancing and you can get the price down to a few hundred baht. Remember: These girls are not under the control of the bar and may only show up every few weeks, so you don't really have anyone to complain to if you are not satisfied.

You do not need to look to find  girls that are looking for a long-term relationship. In other words no money involved (at least not up front). But the sex may not come fast--that is until you show them you are looking for the same kind of relationship.

This was, and is, one wild place. All you need do is to walk up and make some sort of conversation, or make eye contact for more than 3 seconds. That's all  it  takes you will have more women sitting with you than you can deal with. More of the girls seem to let there hair down here, but they still like a clean, well-mannered guy. It's good advice to always treat these girls with respect. They have a way of telling each other if a guy is rude.Be thoughtful , attentive and understanding, then keep your wits about you and you will have a blast.
